Wyld Dock Bar Wedding

When arriving at Will and Veronica’s Wyld Dock Bar Wedding, clouds darkened, and the rain began, which persuaded us vendors to create a new plan for their day.

Veronica and Will went to the same high school but were never really friends. Several years later, they reconnected at a mutual friend’s wedding. After dating long-distance for about a year, Will moved to Brooklyn to be closer to Veronica. After quickly realizing that she couldn’t imagine being married to anyone else but Will, she proposed to him on Thanksgiving Day!

While Veronica began to get ready, her wedding dress ripped. Thankfully, each time I attend a wedding, I bring an emergency bag, and I have a sewing kit in there. With the help of a friend, they got her sewed back into the dress before she shared a first look with Will. In the morning, while Will and his groomsmen were hanging around, they wore tracksuits because why not be comfortable?! Veronica even embroidered each tracksuit with their names on it.

Following Will and Veronica’s first look that day, we captured a few photos in downtown Savannah and headed to Wyld Dock Bar Savannah. Our arrival at the venue coincided with rain, so our original plans for the ceremony had to be revised. The coordinator, musician and I reorganized the timeline so that we could work around the weather. Instead of having an hour-long cocktail hour after the ceremony, we had guests mingle for a half hour and then be seated for the ceremony. Hiring a fantastic wedding vendor team guarantees your day to be excellent no matter the circumstances!

They incorporated Jewish traditions into their ceremony since Will is Jewish. They stood beneath a chuppah made from his mother’s clothes. After breaking the glass, they sealed their marriage with a kiss, and all their guests cheered excitedly!

Wyld Dock Bar is truly a unique wedding venue in Savannah. Its atmosphere is beautiful enough that you don’t need many decorations. They hung small fabric pieces to give the space a pop of color, and all of the fabric came from Will’s mother’s clothing. Instead of having wedding cake, they brought in an ice cream truck. Family members gave several toasts, and it was so clear how much love their friends and family have for these two. The night continued with a packed dance floor, and everyone had so much fun dancing the night away!

When they were thinking of their wedding photography, they wanted a certain vibe for their photos. They found me through a Savannah College of Art and Design photography page, as they wanted an art school graduate. I’m so thankful I could be their Savannah wedding photographer and photograph their fun wedding at Wyld Dock Bar Savannah!

Kind Words From the Couple:

“Ashta was amazing – she made us feel so comfortable, gave us great direction, and our photos are fantastic. I asked for largely candid shots of the wedding guests, and she also seriously delivered on that, giving us some incredible dance floor memories to have forever! She is kind, patient, and communicative; I couldn’t recommend her more.”
