Capturing Caleb and Taylor’s engagement session at Hunting Island State Park was a fun way to spend my evening. As a photographer, I love when couples trust me with location selection, and for these two, I knew Hunting Island would be the perfect fit. They wanted a beach setting, but not the typical soft-sand look you see everywhere. Instead, something more unique with a bit of adventure drew them in. I’ve got to say that Hunting Island photos deliver just that!
Just over an hour from Hilton Head, Hunting Island offers one of the most breathtaking and distinctive landscapes in South Carolina. The driftwood-strewn shore, sun-bleached trees, and untouched natural beauty create a unique and surreal setting. It’s no wonder this stretch of the coast is also known as Boneyard Beach.
We kicked things off along a secluded, sun-kissed trail surrounded by palm trees. The light streaming through the trees cast a warm, golden glow, perfectly highlighting Caleb and Taylor’s natural chemistry. Their coordinated outfit of khaki shorts and blue shirts beautifully blended with the backdrop.. The variety of scenery added depth to their Hunting Island photos, showcasing both lush greenery and the raw beauty of the beach.
As we reached the shoreline, the view was striking with massive driftwood trees, weathered by the elements, stood like sculptures against the sand.
One of the most special parts of this session was recreating a moment from their original engagement photo. Caleb wanted to lift Taylor in a way that captured their playful, adventurous love, and they absolutely nailed it! The ocean stretched endlessly behind them, creating a truly magical scene. Personal touches always enhance the significance of engagement sessions.
As the evening light faded, the sky took on a soft, moody glow, with the clouds enhancing the intensity of the scene. Just when we thought the evening couldn’t get any better, a rainbow appeared over the ocean. It was one of those breathtaking moments that felt like a sign of good fortune for their future. We made sure to capture it, as it was a truly unforgettable part to their Hunting Island photos.
