Venue 1223 Bluffton Wedding in Winter

Venue 1223 Wedding | Tanner + Amber

Winter Wedding in Bluffton at Venue 1223

Amber and Tanner’s wedding day at Venue 1223 Bluffton perfectly blended Southern charm, meaningful moments, and personal touches. It was a winter wedding, but the warmness of their closest family and friends made the day feel bright, cozy, and full of life.

Amber and Tanner met in college and quickly became inseparable. Over time, they discovered a shared love for travel and adventure that carried through in the spirit of their wedding day.

The day began with Amber getting ready alongside her bridesmaids and her grandmother at Venue 1223, which served as the ceremony and reception locations. The bridesmaids and Amber’s grandmother wore dusty blue silk robes with their wedding roles embroidered on the back, like “Grandmother of the Bride.” Amber stood out in an adorable white robe with feathery sleeves and a feathered hem, a fun and elegant touch that suited her perfectly.

Once everyone was ready, they helped Amber into her dress. It was a heartfelt moment full of support and excitement, made even more meaningful when her grandmother stepped in to help her with the final touches.

Before the ceremony, we headed to the Church of the Cross in Bluffton. This location has special meaning for Amber and Tanner, it’s where they had their first date. Returning there for portraits and a few intimate first looks felt only right. Amber shared emotional moments with her grandfather and brother. The setting and soft winter light made for beautiful images that felt deeply personal to them.

The ceremony was in the garden courtyard at Venue 1223 and was captivating. A wooden altar was draped in dusty blue fabric and adorned with florals. They matched Amber’s bouquet—white flowers with touches of pink and greenery. Each aisle chair was decorated with dusty blue drapery and matching florals, tying the entire setup with a soft, cohesive look.

One of the sweetest parts of the ceremony was seeing Amber’s nephew, Luca, pulling Tanner’s niece, Lucy, in a flower-decorated wagon. At just one and one-and-a-half years old, they were the cutest ring bearer and flower girl duo. Luca wore a mini suit and bowtie to match Tanner, and Lucy was dressed in white to match Amber. Adding even more personal touches to the ceremony, Amber and Tanner’s dog appeared. He was dressed in a little suit and walking down the aisle with Tanner.

Amber was escorted down the aisle by her grandparents, a moment that held so much love and meaning.

We headed to the Church of the Cross after the ceremony for some newlywed portraits. The backdrop of the historic church and the soft sunset light created such a peaceful, romantic setting to end their portrait time. With how important that place is to them, it was a meaningful way to return to where their story began.

Inside Venue 1223, the reception space reflected Amber and Tanner’s personalities and attention to detail. They chose a mix of long wooden and round tables, each dressed in coordinating patterned linens. It added a touch of flair to the room. Tall floral vases sat at the center of each table, with the long tables also featuring lush greenery running the entire length.

Rather than standard white, they opted for natural wood-colored chairs, which gave the space a warmer, more inviting feel and complemented the Lowcountry winter vibe they wanted.

One of the most unique elements of the night was the vintage phone booth set up for guests to leave voice messages instead of signing a traditional guest book. It was a fun, interactive way to collect memories and well wishes from their loved ones.

The celebration began once they finished the formalities, the first dances, speeches, and cake cutting. The dance floor stayed full as Amber, Tanner, and their guests let loose and enjoyed the evening.

To end the night, Amber and Tanner shared one final dance. Then, surrounded by a crowd of guests holding sparklers, they made their grand exit, ready for their future together.

Amber and Tanner chose Venue 1223 Bluffton after seeing it on Instagram and scheduling a tour. They loved how open and customizable the space felt, as it gave them the flexibility to bring their vision to life. As a bonus, the venue operates as a restaurant during the week, so they knew the food would be great, too. Between the indoor and outdoor spaces, it provided the perfect setting for a smooth, enjoyable day from start to finish.

Amber and Tanner, thank you for trusting me to document such an important day in your lives. Enjoy scrolling through some of my favorite photos from their Venue 1223 Bluffton wedding!
