An Intimate Cotton Hall Wedding in South Carolina

Cotton Hall Wedding in Spring

There are wedding venues, and then there is Cotton Hall. Nestled in the quiet charm of Yemassee, South Carolina, this historic Lowcountry estate is truly something special. It’s a place where Southern grace meets heartfelt tradition. Rachel and Jake’s wedding day reflected everything that makes this venue so unforgettable.

From the moment I turned onto the long oak-lined drive, I felt the peaceful beauty that Rachel and Jake spoke about when they first told me their story. Spanish moss swayed softly in the warm spring breeze. Sunlight filtered through the trees, setting the tone for a day rooted deeply in love, faith, and intentional connection. As a Beaufort wedding photographer, I’ve seen many beautiful places, but Cotton Hall holds a rare kind of presence.

Rachel and Jake’s story began in the most unexpected of places: a dog park. From that first meeting to their shared faith, baptism during a hurricane, and a journey of ministry and couples counseling, their relationship has been grounded in something far greater than chance. They wove that same faith beautifully throughout every part of their wedding day.

The ceremony took place beneath a canopy of towering oaks, with a wooden cross adorned in gorgeous white florals at the altar. Each bloom in Rachel’s bouquet echoed that same palette, simple and elegant, but each one unique, just like the couple themselves. Dressed in timeless black, their bridal party brought a sense of classic elegance to the day.

One of the most powerful moments of the day was their private communion during the ceremony. In the quietness of the space, you could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, just as they had when they first visited Cotton Hall. It wasn’t just a wedding; it was a sacred celebration. As they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife, their guests showered them with flower petals.

The reception was held outdoors, with al fresco dining under the open sky. Long tables stretched out on the lawn, with each guest finding their place by way of a custom mug, a personal and welcoming touch. The black and white checkered dance floor added a fun vintage flair, and their wedding cake was timeless and charming.

Golden hour at Cotton Hall was a dream. We wandered the alley of oaks near the cross that was Rachel and Jake’s favorite spot on the property. The Spanish moss, the soft light, and the love these two share made it impossible to take a bad photo.

They ended the night with a sparkler exit, laughter, and light trailing behind them as they stepped into their new life together. It was the kind of day that stays with you, not just because it was beautiful, but because it was honest and heartfelt.

Rachel and Jake, thank you for inviting me to such a sacred and joyful celebration. If you’re dreaming of a Cotton Hall wedding, I’d be honored to capture your day at this South Carolina hidden gem.
