It was a warm June day for Katie and Will’s Crosswinds Golf Club Wedding. There were storms in the vicinity, but that didn’t stop us on this fantastic day.
Katie and I met while she was working at Loft. I was shopping for outfits that I could wear to winter weddings and still be flexible. She thought it was hilarious how I was doing squats and other weird moves I might do on a wedding day. Katie had mentioned that she was a florist, and we immediately connected!
Crosswinds Golf Club was the perfect wedding venue for Will and Katie. They were pleased with the option for an intimate ceremony. In the heart of Savannah Aviation Village, you’ll find this gorgeous Savannah wedding venue. The peaceful setting is beautiful on manicured greens of a golf course.
In the front row of chairs for the ceremony, they had photos of loved ones. During their ceremony, Katie and Will did a sword exchange. A sword exchange is a way of showing the passing of protection between families and uniting the two families that are now responsible for supporting one another. Katie gave Will a Norman dagger to represent her family, while he gave her an Irish leaf blade to represent his family. This is a Scandinavian ritual that is special and neat to witness. There were also sage burnings and the fealty pledge with whiskey.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen were all looking quite dapper. The bridesmaids wore sand dresses, and the men wore kilts with pins, sash, and a Ghillie shirt. After the ceremony, we took some newlywed portraits, and it felt like we were in a fairytale.
It was a delight capturing their first dance and cutting the wedding cake as some of their firsts as a married couple. To end their wedding day, their guests lined up outside the venue and had a glow stick exit. It was a perfect ending for them!
