Sarah Joan and Enrico’s New Year’s Eve wedding reception at Venue 1223 was a blast and a pleasure to capture, and their rehearsal dinner the night before was a great addition to their memories! Their journey together began in 2011 at a ballet summer intensive, but it wasn’t until 2017, when they both joined the Kansas City Ballet, that their friendship blossomed into something more. They officially started dating in the fall of 2018. Since then, they’ve navigated long-distance challenges, major life events, and numerous moves, which have only strengthened their bond and love for each other.
Sarah Joan and Enrico’s wedding took place at the picturesque Saint Luke’s Anglican Church, Hilton Head Island, SC where they exchanged vows in a romantic ceremony after dark. The intimate setting provided the perfect backdrop for their love story to unfold. Venue 1223, one of the Bluffton SC Wedding Venues, hosted their reception, providing a stunning location that perfectly complemented their vision for a fun and stylish celebration. Sarah Joan and Enrico chose Venue 1223 for its industrial feel and flexibility with vendors, allowing them to create the atmosphere they desired.
One of the most touching moments of the day was the incorporation of family heirlooms into the ceremony. Sarah Joan wore gold chains from Enrico’s parents’ wedding ceremony and was covered with her mother’s veil, symbolizing the joining of their families and honoring their past.
I was particularly impressed by the thoughtfulness and creativity that went into the reception. The vibe was lively and festive, with a french fry bar, ice cream, and late-night snacks keeping the party going well into the night. The highlight of the evening was the cold sparks at midnight, which added a magical touch to the celebration and the ringing in of a new year!
Enrico’s discovery of a dark emerald tuxedo in Paris the day after they got engaged inspired their wedding color palette of dark emerald, gold, rust, and black/white. This unique color scheme added a touch of elegance and sophistication to the wedding’s overall look and feel.
As a result of the late-night reception and indoor ceremony, I also assisted Sarah Joan and Enrico with their timeline. Despite these challenges, everything came together beautifully, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of their special day.
